The Car Seat

We decided to buy a new car seat for the little man that would do him from now until he was four. It arrived today with the high chair.

We chose the Britax First Class Plus:

And, as you would expect… here is baby chap trying it out!

My front room looks incredibly full and messy right now with all the packaging form the high chair and car seat, but I am totally in love with this seat. It makes the one we had before look so unsafe. I’m glad we bought it now.

Can’t wait to try it out.

I enjoy every minute of it.
So, we ordered a highchair and it came this morning.
In the end, we went with the Baby Weavers Noodle Folding High Chair.

He doesn’t look best pleased, but in fairness… he’s not even 3 months old yet. YOU WILL LIKE IT CHILD!

Over Stimulated

We haven’t yet got blackout blinds for our room which unfortunately means that little chap gets very over stimulated during the day. Today, the only way I could get him to sleep was to close all of the curtains, tv and radio off and wrap him up in his blanket around his body and over his head.

Saturday

With Stuart leaving the house at 8:30 am and getting home at 6pm, we only have about an hour before Kai has his bath. During that hour, we have to get everything ready for bed and eat our dinner so it’s usually a little rushed and we often don’t get time to even hug each other in passing.

Soooo..I am dropping Kai off with my father on Saturday for the first time and I’m not entirely sure how I feel about it!

He won’t be staying long, only an hour or two to give me and Stuart some time away but it seems so weird to think he won’t be coming with us. We are planning to go to a coffee shop after we’ve dropped him off and just sit and watch the world go by. I wish that they would come here and watch him, but they are scared of the dogs. I do understand that, as they are large dogs, but it does make things harder in the long run as my father lives over 30 mins away and I have to transport everything over to him!

More importantly though, how on earth do you leave instructions for someone that you know has done it all before (as you’ve turned out alright)? How am I going to be able to say, this cry means that he probably wants to sit on your lap and watch the room and that cry means he’s hungry etc. How can you explain to someone what YOU just KNOW?

Following on from my last post..

He slept for 20 mins…. and has been awake for the entire day. Refuses now to go to sleep at all.
I feel so sorry for him as he looks so tired, and he is so very angry at me for trying to make him sleep on his own.
I am sure that when you read this, you might not understand why I’m so excited but this is the reason why:

I am sat here next to my little boy who has actually gone to sleep whilst not being held for the very first time in his 6 1/2 weeks.

Up until now, if you even tried to put him down to go to try and do anything at all, no matter how long you took… he would turn into screaming little monster child. Up until 2 weeks ago, to get any sleep at all at night, we would have to sleep with him on our chest or he would just stay awake and cry. Progress was then made to him falling asleep with his bottle, and tolerating being put into our bed next to us.

Today is the first time I have been able to put him down and lay next to him and get him to go to sleep whilst singing to him and stroking his tummy. Don’t get me wrong, it took a good 15 mins of pure screaming before he settled enough for him to even hear my singing (it’s not that bad….) but progress is progress.

So, I am now looking at buying my first baby monitor so I can leave the room when he’s sleeping and I do believe we will have cracked it!

Changes

This week has been a very strange week, that has culminated in me deciding i’m not going to keep a schedule of the baby’s feeding and eating any longer and just update the general summary of things that have happened.
This is mainly due to finding less and less time to actually be able to post on a daily basis, which means I am getting further and further behind and getting myself all confused.
